Terranova ("new land") is a small family boutique winery founded in 2006 in Moshav Kanaf, on the southern Golan Heights, by partners who had previously grown citrus and deciduous orchards and worked in tourism. The winemaker and vineyard manager is Gal (Gil) Sharon, who spent about 15 years as a vintner at the Golan Heights Winery before going independent; family tradition holds that his grandfather owned a winery in Romania that helped the family survive World War II. The grapes — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz — come from estate single-vineyard plots in the Tel Faris area of the volcanic Golan, with annual output of around 10,000 bottles. The flagship is the "Bereishit" red blend (Shiraz / Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot), and the wines are vegan. Alongside the wine the estate makes its own olive oil (Arbequina and Koroneiki) and grows a "forest fruit" plot of berries — a farm-to-table operation where wine, oil and seasonal berries are all made and tasted on site. The visitor center hosts seated wine and olive-oil tastings guided by the family, in a courtyard with views over the Kinneret and Hermon. Tasting of wines and olive oil runs about 40 NIS per person; a vegan appetizer platter about 80 NIS. Food on offer includes cheese, pizza, quiche and vegan platters. The on-site shop sells the estate wines, olive oil (Arbequina and Koroneiki) and seasonal forest berries, and home delivery is offered (minimum order ~300 NIS).
The winery is in Moshav Kanaf on the southern Golan Heights, about 94 km / roughly 88 minutes' drive from Haifa.
On weekdays (Sun-Thu) yes - you need to coordinate in advance by phone or WhatsApp (054-3993514). On weekends (Fri-Sat) walk-ins are welcome when space permits, but it's best to call ahead in any case.
No, the winery is not kosher and has no rabbinical supervision (per grape-man.com and alhayain.com). No certifying body is listed. The estate emphasizes that its wines are vegan, not kosher; if kosher status matters to you, confirm directly.
