Winemaker Tzvika Fanty (Panti) converted an old cowshed on the family farm into a winery. He is the third generation of a winemaking family that began in Romania in the 1940s, and the winery is named after the Aligote grape that appeared on his grandfather Marco Pentti's original 1933 vineyard label from Iași. This is a tiny operation — only a few thousand bottles a year, mostly dry red wines from grapes sourced in select Israeli regions. The lineup includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz and Sangiovese, plus a "Kakoun" blend in some vintages. The winery also makes port, grappa, brandy/cherry liqueur and its own olive oil (Barnea variety). Because production is so small, specific wines may sell out and not be available on a repeat visit. Visits are by appointment: a guided tour explaining the winemaking process, followed by a tasting (reviewers describe around 8 wines in small pours), with the chance to buy wine and olive oil on site.
