Bat Shlomo Vineyards
CarmelBat Shlomo Vineyards was founded in 2010 by Eli Wurtman with winemaker Ari Erle. The estate sits on land where vineyards were first planted back in the 1880s under Baron Edmond de Rothschild, near Zichron Yaakov. Its heart is a restored Rothschild-era farmhouse, "The Farmhouse." Tastings are by reservation only. The experience begins with a stroll along Bat Shlomo's original main street, overlooking the vineyards, the organic garden and the Hurshan nature reserve, then moves into a tasting room with a collection of Israeli art. Guests taste white, rosé and red wines paired with local bread, cheeses, fresh vegetables and chef-prepared appetizers. The flagship is "Betty's Cuvée," a Bordeaux-style blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc) named in honor of the Rothschild family. On-site guest accommodation is also available.
