Netofa Winery (also known as Domaine Netofa) was established in 2006 by French-born veteran kosher winemaker Pierre Miodownick, who made aliyah to Israel in 2005 after more than two decades producing kosher wine in Europe. Its roughly 12 hectares of vineyards sit at the foot of Mount Tabor in the Ein Dor area of the Lower Galilee. The first vintage was 2009, with the first complete vintage in 2010. Pierre Miodownick is the winemaker and Yitzchak Tor is the viticulturalist. Netofa specializes in Mediterranean and Rhône/Iberian varieties — Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, Chenin Blanc and Roussanne — which is unusual among Israeli kosher producers. The flagship is Netofa Dor, described as 100% Tempranillo in some vintages and 100% Syrah in others (the variety varies by vintage) and released only in great vintages.
