Galilee

Kishor Winery is a boutique winery inside Kishorit (Kibbutz Kishorit), a Western Galilee village that is home to adults with special needs. They are full partners in the work — tending the vineyards, harvesting, bottling, distributing and staffing the visitor center. The winery was established in 2010 (vineyards first planted in 2007), and its chief winemaker and vineyard manager is South African-born Richard Davies, who works alongside leading Israeli wine consultant Itay Lahat. The vineyards sit at about 500 m elevation, and the winery makes roughly 90,000 bottles a year from Bordeaux and Rhône grape varieties. The range covers reds, whites and rosé from Bordeaux varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot) and Rhône varieties (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Viognier), plus Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay. Named bottlings reported include the Kishor "Savant" red and "Kerem" white, a GSM (Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre) blend, and a Misgav Riesling; Kishor's wines have won awards in Israel and abroad. A visit is a guided wine tasting at the visitor center, coordinated in advance, paired with a Galilee food spread — freshly baked breads and focaccia, labaneh, olives, village-produced cheeses and organic vegetables (cheese/vegetable platters for an added charge). Breakfast or lunch can be pre-booked. A short film tells the story of the village and winery, and when it can be arranged a vineyard or village tour is offered (especially at harvest). The center sits behind large glass windows overlooking the vineyards and Galilee landscape, and is often cited as one of Israel's most scenic.
