How far is it from Haifa?

The winery is in Moshav Amikam, about 52 km and roughly 50 minutes' drive from Haifa.

Do I need to book ahead?

Saturday hospitality and Friday group visits are by advance arrangement only. Shop hours are 10:00–16:00; confirm the visiting day and format by phone.

Is the winery kosher?

No. The Grape Man directory lists the status as "לא" (not kosher), and no certifying body is mentioned in any source. Confidence is moderate, so if kosher status matters to you, confirm directly with the winery before visiting.

Salomon Winery

Q: What is the winery known for?

It is a fully family-operated winery where every step is done by family members. It calls itself "the winery by the stream": vineyards grow on limestone soil along the banks of Nahal Taninim with minimal pesticides, some grapes are also sourced from the Golan Heights, and the wines are typically aged in barrel for about two years.

Carmel

Salomon Winery is a small family winery in Moshav Amikam. Itamar Salomon, a native of Kibbutz Amikam and a longtime fruit and vineyard farmer, began making wine in his home cellar in 1997; after the home winery passed about 1,000 bottles around 2000 he formalized it into a family business (some directories date the formal opening to 2002). Every step, from harvest to bottling, is done by family members: Itamar, his wife Chiaki (from Japan) and their children. The grapes grow on limestone soil along the banks of Nahal Taninim, which is why the estate calls itself "the winery by the stream." The lineup is reds from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah/Shiraz (the Cabernet Franc is sold on its own), and the official site also lists Chardonnay among its grapes; no single flagship is named. A visit is a wine tasting with a cheese platter in the winery courtyard plus a tour, and suits couples, families and groups.
