HaRoe Winery

HaRoe Winery is an ultra-boutique garagiste family winery on Moshav Kfar HaRoeh in the Hefer Valley. It was founded in 2010 by self-taught winemaker Ehud Kaveh, who set out to make wine the way it was made in Talmudic times — using only wild native yeast and minimal intervention. It began with a single barrel of Merlot from Dalton fruit and now produces roughly 2,000–3,000 bottles a year, sourcing grapes from Upper Galilee and Samaria vineyards (Dalton, Dishon, Kfar Shammai, Esh Kodesh). The winery is built into the lower level of the winemaker's private home, with visitors entering from the yard. This is a place for serious wine lovers rather than a casual tourist stop, and the setting is deliberately spartan. Tastings are hosted informally in the cellar with the winemaker present throughout, who explains the wild-yeast natural method; one visitor reported a tasting fee of about 40 ILS. Reds include Cabernet-Merlot, Merlot-Petite Sirah and Merlot-Petit Verdot blends plus varietal Petite Sirah and Marselan; whites include unoaked Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. There is no restaurant and no refreshments beyond the wine, though bottles can be bought on site. Kids can see the fermentation tanks and operate the corking machine.
