Odem Mountain Winery
GolanOdem Mountain Winery (Har Odem) is a family winery founded in 2003 by Idit and Michael Alfasi in Moshav Odem, in the northern Golan Heights. Today their sons run production: Yishai as winemaker and Adam as vintner. The first kosher vintage was released in 2007. The winery sits about 1,060 m up in an oak forest on volcanic basalt soil — Israel's highest and coldest grape-growing area; the official site calls it "the highest winery in Israel," while wine and tourism sources also describe it as the country's northernmost. It is a multiple-award-winning boutique producer with strong James Suckling scores, and in 2025 it became the first Israeli winery invited to Suckling's "Great Wines of the World" event in New York. Its flagship is Alfasi, the wine carrying the family name (for example Alfasi Special Edition, a Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot-based red); other notable labels include 1060 Cabernet Sauvignon, the Volcanic series (Chardonnay, Riesling), Syrah, Nebbiolo and Gamay Noir. At the visitor center — "the beating heart of the winery" — guided tastings and tours cover the vineyards, the winemaking process and the family story, with wines presented for both novices and connoisseurs. Tastings are reported at roughly 25–110 NIS per person, and tours at around 20 NIS including a tasting. On site there is a tasting room serving food — platters and a seasonal menu to pair with the wines — plus a shop with delivery and a members' club. All wines are kosher, and from the 2021 harvest they are also described as vegan-friendly.
