Amram Winery

Amram Winery is a small family boutique winery in Moshav Ramot Naftali in the Upper Galilee, founded in 2001 by grape grower Amram Azulai and his son Ohad. The estate grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Sangiovese in the Kadesh Valley. First releases came from the 2004 vintage (about 2,800 bottles), growing to roughly 6,000 bottles a year today. It is one of four small boutique wineries that gave Moshav Ramot Naftali its reputation as a wine-tourism stop in the northern Galilee. The winery releases three lines of dry red wines aged in barrique and oak: the Premium series, the Bereshit ("Genesis") series and the Ramot Naftaly / Harei Naftali line. A visit is an experiential winery tour, with storytelling and explanations from the owner, followed by a wine tasting (with the option to add a Galilee-cheese platter). On site there is also a small distillery producing spirits, and a shop selling the wines. The winery offers a personal-barrel project, too: a customer chooses the blend, style and ageing period and receives about 300 bottles with a personalised label. It is a small, homey operation where the owner personally greets guests. Hours are inconsistent across sources, so call ahead before visiting.
