# Performance: Itzik Kala and the Jerusalem East and West Orchestra > Haifa Events **Category:** concert ## Description Long before artists learned how to "grow from the bottom up," and with very little help from the media, Itzik Kala had already become a towering icon. Beyond being one of the pillars of Mizrahi music in Israel, Kala has collaborated with the greatest and the best, released dozens of albums, and given us a long and beloved list of unforgettable classics. Over an amazing career spanning decades, Kala has carved out an almost mythical status in Israeli music. As a true symbol of the city of Jerusalem and a recipient of the Yakir HaIr (Worthy Citizen) award, and as someone who, in our eyes, represents better than anyone the beautiful potential of the art that comes out of it, we are thrilled for the opportunity to host this living legend for a concert series that musically connects Kurdistan, Turkey, Greece and Israel.
