Sometimes it all starts with a single task. Find a document. Confirm an origin. Make sense of family history. And then it turns into a journey you can no longer walk away from. This course is not about "where to search archives." It's about how to piece together your family's story step by step — and understand why it matters at all. 📅 16, 23, 30 April ⏰ 18:00–19:30 📍 Online (Zoom) 📍 Lecture 1: How to Start Your Own Research Where do you begin when "nothing is clear, but it's all very interesting"? We'll cover the basics: — principles of genealogical research — which sources actually work — how not to get lost in information — what tools to use at the start 📍 Lecture 2: Features of Social Classes and Time Periods The specifics of Jewish genealogy We'll discuss: — how sources vary depending on time period and territory — what to keep in mind when working with Jewish archives — what challenges come up most often and how to work around them 📍 Lecture 3: Finding Relatives and DNA How people find relatives across the world — and what's important to understand about genetics? We'll explore: — how DNA tests work and what they actually show — why there is no such thing as a "Jewish gene" — how lost connections between generations are restored This course grew out of real experience. When documents weren't enough — it meant searching deeper. Without paid researchers, without ready-made solutions.
