📜 The Golden Age of Spanish Jewry with Evgeny Shmuter
Spain of the X–XII centuries is one of the rare historical periods when Jewish culture not only survives, but becomes part of the intellectual avant-garde of its time. This is an era in which Jewish thought develops in dialogue with Arab and Christian traditions, shaping philosophy, poetry, and a worldview that influenced generations far beyond its own time. This series is an attempt to examine the "Golden Age" not as a myth, but as a complex cultural and historical process: with its internal contradictions, context, and inevitable end. The focus is on: — the formation of the intellectual environment of medieval Spain — poetry and philosophy as ways of understanding the world — the texts and ideas of Ibn Gabirol, Yehuda Halevi, and Rambam in historical context — the interaction of cultures and its limits — the reasons why this flourishing proved to be finite This is a conversation not only about the past — but also about how cultural peaks emerge and why they never last forever. 🎤 Evgeny Shmuter Guide, musician, and researcher of Israeli culture 📅 April 12, 19, 26 ⏰ 18:00–19:30 📍 Online (Zoom) Registration for all project events is required.
