In collaboration with the community center, 13 local artists present a colorful flag exhibition on Bat Galim Boulevard, celebrating the neighborhood's culture. The artists come from a wide range of creative fields — illustration, graphic design, street art, fine art, photography and even performance — each bringing their own unique view of life in Bat Galim to the exhibition. The sea is a central figure in the exhibition, as the coastline's topography embraces it along its length, adorned with historic structures such as the Casino and the Templer wind station, and the Washingtonia palms along the boulevard. All of these are presented on flags through the artists' eyes — short chapters of one complete collective story. All the fabric flags were created using hand screen-printing on textile, with each artist translating their work into two layers of color. Guided by curator and textile artist Shlomit Ariel, the artists developed their imagery according to the requirements of hand printing in those same two colors, creating a boulevard of flags rich in visual variety yet sharing a common color language — a festive backdrop for festival visitors. The story behind each flag is presented in parallel at the community center in an exhibition for visitors, where you can see the inspirations and thought processes behind each design and read about the meaning of each flag in the artists' own words. The layered neighborhood portrait unfolds in full through the creative process, from the initial spark of an idea to the meeting of color and fabric. About the 16th Bat Galim Festival: Friday - Sunday, September 25-27 | throughout the Bat Galim neighborhood Bat Galim residents open their homes and host art, music and culture.
