# Folklorissimo - Mezzo Ensemble Hosts > Haifa Events **Category:** classical ## Description Ensemble Mezzo: Ye'ela Avital, soprano; Dorit Florentin, recorders; Orit Meser Yaakobi, baroque cello; Gideon Bartler, baroque guitar. Folk songs and popular tunes are born outside the concert hall, pass from mouth to ear, and change over time. Composers have turned to them again and again, drawing inspiration from them and seeing in them an expression of national identity and shared memory. They arranged them, recomposed them, and carried them from the street, the home and the community to the written score and the concert stage. The program follows the transformations of familiar tunes from various periods and places: a Spanish romance that appears in the work of Renaissance composer Alonso Mudarra and in the Ladino tradition, and receives a new interpretation by composer Yonatan Keren (Israel-Switzerland); Scottish and Irish songs arranged by Beethoven; and the Beatles' "Yesterday" arranged by Luciano Berio; Bach chorales based on a folk song, as well as a Bach sonata. Alongside these, folk songs, dances and traditional tunes that have received new interpretations throughout history will be performed. In this program, Ensemble Mezzo presents the ongoing encounter between folklore and artistic creation — an encounter of memory, arrangement, and reinvention. For all performances by Ensemble Mezzo. **Date:** 2026-11-28, 12:00 **Venue:** Beit HaChesed Church **Address:** HaPal'im Blvd 10 **City:** Haifa **Price:** from 120 ₪ **Tickets:** https://haifaevents.kassa.co.il/announce/buy/210085 **Image:** https://pub-0a891185c33b4c5a8db7ede117f7c8e7.r2.dev/haifa-events/bravo/0f5adf621665147a86cdaa445ebf89cb.jpg --- **Canonical event page:** https://www.haifa.events/en/event/folklorissimo-v-gostyakh-u-ansamblya-metstso/ **Other languages:** https://www.haifa.events/he/event/folklorissimo-v-gostyakh-u-ansamblya-metstso/, https://www.haifa.events/ru/event/folklorissimo-v-gostyakh-u-ansamblya-metstso/ Haifa Events is an aggregator.
